NJ TRANSIT is honoring Autism Acceptance Month this April with several initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity and supporting neurodiverse individuals:
- Neurodiverse Children’s Announcements: In collaboration with Happy Hour 4 Kids and the Autism Transit Project, NJ TRANSIT features station announcements recorded by neurodiverse children throughout April. These announcements include messages like welcoming passengers aboard and reminders to watch the gap while boarding.
- MagnusCards App Enhancement: MagnusCards app includes a rewards system called MagnusBadges to encourage and support users in developing transit skills. Now users can add NJ TRANSIT MagnusBadges to their trophy room!
- Acceptance Messaging on Vehicles: NJ TRANSIT has wrapped two buses and a locomotive with designs promoting autism acceptance. Notably, one of the bus designs was created by local neurodiverse children, showcasing their creativity and involvement.
These efforts reflect NJ TRANSIT’s commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all passengers. Read more here.
