Magnusmode and Guelph Transit are pleased to announce the launch of 5 New MagnusCards Card Decks to help people with cognitive special needs (for example, autism), who typically need assistance using public transit, to navigate Guelph Transit services with greater independence and foster greater community inclusion. “Guelph Transit is using the MagnusCards platform to help increase the accessibility of conventional transit to riders who have autism and other cognitive disabilities,” said Magnusmode CEO and Founder Nadia Hamilton. “This gives more people more access to essential services and plays a key role in empowering them to achieve their goals and master new life skills.”
The Guelph Transit Card Decks are digital social stories that break down transit tasks and challenges into more manageable steps. Each of the Guelph Transit Card Decks include cards that describe the step-by-step details in completing transit-related tasks (including buying tickets and riding the bus). The cards all include text descriptions with pictures, and audio.
With these new MagnusCards Card Decks, Guelph Transit will take a leadership role in improving accessibility for their riders with special needs and increasing safety, inclusion, and confidence in using the Guelph Transit system.
The new Card Decks include:
